Even the wind gets lost in Napoli

03 July 2014 - 03 Sept 2014, Palazzo Reale, Napoli (Italy)

Press Release

The Superintendence for Architectural, Landscape, Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage of Naples and its Province together with Visioni Future are pleased to present Even the wind gets lost in Napoli, an exhibit by artists Blue and Joy. The Royal Palace of Naples, Palazzo Reale, will host the exhibition from July 3 to August 31, 2014.

The Palazzo Reale showcases an environmental installation by the Italian duo Blue and Joy, Daniel Sigalot (Rome, 1976) and Fabio La Fauci (Milan, 1977), who have been based in Berlin for over 6 years.

The exhibit titled EVEN THE WIND GETS LOST IN NAPLES, laid out in the “Sala delle Colonne Doriche” of Palazzo Reale, reinterprets and brings to Naples the large-scale installation presented at the Triennale di Milano in December 2013. More than 500 multicolored aluminum sculptures reproducing paper airplanes will invade the former “Rimessa Delle Carrozze” and swarm around one of the Doric columns at the center of the hall, creating a vortex of shapes and colors.

This monumental installation will permeate the entire Hall of Doric Columns, establishing a continuous dialogue with the architecture that houses it, leading visitors through an enveloping visual experience where color passes through space and form encourages the visitor to embrace the experience.
In addition to the paper planes dominating the room, ten other works will be on display on the walls of the former “Rimessa Delle Carrozze”. Blue and Joy once again become alchemists, transforming aluminum in paper, allowing us to wander through their world of irony and lightness.
Monumental letters, in aluminum of course, addressed to Destiny, to the Future and to Art will be on display in the form of a letter of dismissal, a letter of apology, and finally an appeal.
Blue and Joy bring a fresh wind to Naples, a breeze that, as suggested by the title of the exhibition, gets lost in the narrow winding streets of the city.
